I never wanted to fight in the UFC. They are destroying the sport.”
Clearly bitter about the UFC’s treatment of his ex-wife up to this point Santos didn’t hold back going so far as to say he would never fight for the promotion because of the way they treat the fighters. Santos believes the UFC is now using Cyborg in Ronda’s absence, even though they have spent years questioning her character and marring her name.
Making Cyborg fight at a catchweight has also upset Santos, as he believes she is a big enough name to create a Women’s Featherweight division, like they did for Ronda Rousey. It will be interesting to see if the UFC decides to add a Featherweight division going forward or if this fight is just another attempt to get Cyborg to come down in weight, to fight Ronda Rousey.
