
UFC Veteran Diego Brandao was released from his UFC contract after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a nightclub employee with a deadly weapon.
The Ultimate Fighter Season 14 Winner most recently competed against Brian Ortega at UFC 195 in January. Brandao dominated the first two rounds of the fight before getting caught in a triangle choke and losing by submission in round 3. He was then popped by the NSAC when he tested positive for marijuana metabolites in a post-fight drug test.
TMZ Sports has now released the video of Brandao’s confession to the police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Watch the video below.
Timeline of Events in the Diego Brandao Arrest:
January 15, 2016: The official website of the UFC announces Diego Brandao’s positive test for marijuana metabolites following his UFC 195 loss. The post-fight positive test was the first for marijuana since Nick Diaz received a 5-year ban for his offense, which was later overturned.
April 15, 2016: Diego Brandao was arrested for hitting a strip club employee with a firearm. After leaving the club: “Knockouts”, Brandao returned and was denied reentry for being too intoxicated. He reacted by throwing punches and trying to force his way in. He returned later that night carrying a gun. He allegedly pointed the gun at an employee and a patron before pistol-whipping the employee in the face.
April 17, 2016: The UFC released a statement on the matter. The company stated that it is “concerned” about the allegations, but said that Brandao “is entitled to due process in a court of law.” The UFC would wait for more details to emerge before taking action.
