UFC president Dana White is contradicting himself left, right and centre…

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson fired some serious heat towards his UFC employers last week. During a somewhat shocking statement, ‘Mighty Mouse’ took aim at Dana White and matchmaker Sean Shelby.

Claiming he’d been bullied in to taking fights he didn’t want, Johnson blew the lid off Pandora’s box. Since then, there’s been a hot debate around the 125-pound division, and again the subject of fighter treatment has arisen.

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is no longer a company man…

Johnson’s Claims

For some time fans were questioning why Johnson was turning down a title defense against TJ Dillashaw. During his record-tying title run, Johnson has completely decimated the division, and Dillashaw appeared to be that exciting fight that could really amplify the division.

As usual, things were never going to be that simple.

Dana has made an effort to bully me in the media as well as in private, in order to get what he wants, even though it is not what is best for me or the sport. I agreed to their tyrannical demand to fight Ray Borg and Ray also agreed.

UFC has refused to give me PPV points on any future flyweight bouts, and has never given me any PPV points on previous bouts. My request was fair and the matchmaker in charge of the flyweight and bantamweight division agreed.

UFC president Dana White continues to claim Johnson is ‘refusing’ the fight with Dillashaw, but he isn’t sure why. He also says Conor McGregor is the pound-for-pound number one…

Dana Blasts Johnson, Says McGregor is P4P King

“First of all when we did his deal, he didn’t want pay-per-views. He wasn’t very confident about selling pay-per-views, he has the lowest selling pay-per-view in UFC history, in the modern era.”

Interesting ed note: TJ Dillashaw vs. John Dodson holds the fourth highest FOX Sports viewing at 5.2 million peak.

“I think that a fight between him and TJ Dillashaw would be something people would be interested in. He absolutely refuses to fight the guy. He claims I’m bullying him, how do you bully the pound-for-pound number one fighter in the world?”

“The media claims he’s the number one pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. I think Conor McGregor is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, when you look at what poun-for-pound means. Conor McGregor doesn’t give a shit, he’ll fight anybody. If he’s the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, then fight TJ Dillashaw, fight someone people will care about and be interested in.”

“We’ve been talking about shutting down the flyweight division for years, he knows we’ve been talking about it. We’ve talked about doing away with that division for the past three years now.”

“It has nothing to do with Demetrious, and never before did I threaten him to shut down the division.”

  1. Mighty Mouse has ran through the best fighters in his Division and defended his title 10 times in a row without a loss. McGregor did win titles in two different weight classes and then refused a rematch to a Man that deserved one and has both Divisions jammed up because he refuses to defend his titles while being allowed to chase a Boxing match he has no business being in. He is a far cry away from being the P4P best
