#3 He Has a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
In September of 2006, McCarthy opened up his own martial arts school in California, and became one of the largest training facilities in the entire state. In 2007, after years of training under Rorion Gracie, McCarthy earned a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.
Talk about knowing how to kick ass. I guess it’s only fitting that he have all these skills. He is after all the world’s best MMA referee bar none.
In 2015 however, McCarthy sold his martial arts school to focus mainly on his officiating career.
