3. Junior Dos Santos

Slowly but surely Junior Dos Santos is earning his way back into the UFC title picture. The former champion won the belt by knocking out Cain Velasquez at UFC on Fox 1, which was notable for it being the only fight that was televised that night (Fox thought that was a good idea, they thought better of it for future events).

Dos Santos would defeat Frank Mir to earn his first successful title defence, but after that he dropped the belt back to Cain. Dos Santos would defeat Mark Hunt in his next bout, but then lose the trilogy fight with Cain.

After dropping the trilogy JDS had nowhere to go in the division, and he sunk even deeper when he got knocked out by Overeem in December.

But what might get Dos Anjos a title fight soon is that he beat Miocic in December of 2014, only the second guy ever to do so. It would take an injury to force JDS into the next title shot, but its not like that doesn’t happen all the time in this division.
