Nevada fight regulators imposed the maximum penalty Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 on former UFC champion Silva for testing positive for steroid use in January, 2015. Nevada Athletic Commission Chairman Francisco Aguilar said the 40-year-old Silva was suspended for one year, stripped of his January win over Nick Diaz and fined $380,000. 3. Heavyweight vs. Middleweight/Size Difference

Anderson Silva has fought three times at 205lbs in the UFC, but obviously the middleweight division is his main weight class.  Cormier on the other hand, had been fighting at heavyweight up until 2014.  One could argue that this fight is between a natural heavyweight and a natural middleweight meeting in the middle at light heavyweight.  That size difference doesn’t bode well for Silva.

Silva will still have the reach advantage, but there is considerably more muscle mass on the frame of Cormier than there is on Silva.
