4. Possible Lightweight Championship Fight
Since Frankie Edgar dethroned BJ Penn for the UFC lightweight title, the division has been one of the less talked about ones in the sport. While other divisions have gone on to create huge stars, the lightweight division has seen multiple un-remarkable title reigns by the likes of Benson Henderson, Anthony Pettis and Raphael Dos Anjos.
None of those champions really resonated with the UFC audience much, and lightweight title fights have struggled to even main event UFC shows.
With talk that Conor McGregor’s next fight could be against new lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, all of a sudden the lightweight division could be the home for Conor and Nate’s epic rivalry. If Conor defeats Alvarez for the championship, his next fight could be the trilogy bout with Nate at 155lbs, and for the title. That is a fight every mma fan in the world would want to see.
