3. No More Innocent Fighters Failing Tests

Many of the substances on USADA’s banned list can get into someone’s system through methods that nobody clearly understands yet. For instance hydroxy-clomiphene and letrozole are both known to occasionally be found in the systems of those who didn’t take substances containing it. Those were the two drugs found in Jon Jones’ system. These substances can be transmitted through food and possibly other ways that we aren’t aware of just yet. Despite all we don’t know regarding how these substances can sometimes end up in bloodstreams, USADA is still handing out career-changing suspensions because of them.

The recent example is Tom Lawlor, who has been declaring his innocence on his radio programs with Bryan Alvarez since his test failure. Once failing a test the onus than becomes on the fighter to determine why, but it is perhaps the case that we don’t know all the ways these substances can get in a person’s system just yet.
