Josh Emmett proved at UFC 296 that his shots are not only powerful but can also be lethal. After sending his final punch, “CCO” achieved his knockout win against opponent Bryce Mitchell, who immediately fell to the canvas and exhibited convulsion, leading to the concern of fans and the crowd in the event.

The two fought in a featherweight match on the main card of the event. The bout didn’t last long, with Emmett ending it at the 1:57 mark of Round 1 with a powerful right hook. However, the KO was followed by a rather scary scene when Mitchell started shaking while on the ground due to the heavy shot sent by the opponent.

“Thug Nasty” was attended by some officials of the event. And although it took a few minutes, the young fighter later managed to walk on his own, albeit with wobbling legs.

The loss has given Mitchell an alternating result after losing to Ilia Topuria in December 2022 and winning over Dan Ige this September. Meanwhile, the latest win has broken Emmett’s two-fight losing skid from Yari Rodriguez and Topuria in February and June, respectively. Needless to say, the 38-year-old celebrated the victory, calling himself “the most powerful featherweight in the world.” Nonetheless, the fighter also expressed gratitude toward Mitchell, who stepped in to replace Giga Chikadze in the fight.

“I want to thank Bryce for taking the fight,” Emmett said. “He took it on two weeks’ notice. He’s a dangerous guy. I wish him nothing but the best.”
