Khabib Nurmagamedov has a Harsh But Totally Justifiable Reason for Not Fighting Nate Diaz… The Two Men Don’t Like Each Other, But They’ve Yet to Face Each Other in the Octagon… The Eagle Says Diaz Just Isn’t Good Enough…

When you’re a UFC champion you’re in a pretty good place to look down upon the rest of your division and say who you rate as a top fighter and who you don’t. Khabib Nurmagamedov is one of the most brutal fighters on the roster. His current unbeaten record of 27-0 is the longest winning run of any active fighter in a top promotion today.

He’s been going back and forth with Nate Diaz on social media lately. Diaz hasn’t fought since losing to Conor McGregor in their rematch back in 2016. He was supposed to fight Dustin Poirier but fell out with the UFC top brass, and then ‘The Diamond’ got injured anyway. Who knows when and who we’ll see Diaz fight next?

Well, one thing is for sure: it won’t be against Khabib. The Russian champion has explained just why Diaz doesn’t deserve the chance to fight him. His words are harsh but totally true. If you’re a fan of Nate Diaz you might want to look away now.

Loser

According to Khabib, Diaz just isn’t at the top level. He’s one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, but that doesn’t make him one of the most skilled. Speaking to the Sun in the UK, Nurmagamedov brought up some of the demons from the Stockton fighter’s past. He said:

“That’s why he tried to be on media, like, try to trash talk me and something like this. We all know about him. How many times he lose? Like, 12 or 11? All the top fighters beat him. Rory MacDonald, Benson Henderson, Dos Anjos, Conor. Everybody beat him. Forget about him.”

Diaz’s problem is that he hasn’t done anything since losing to McGregor to regain any momentum and charge towards the top of the division again. Khabib has definitely won this round.

Dominant

Conor McGregor was another name in the sights of the Dagestani sambo specialist. The Irishman came back after more than a year out of the cage to fight against Khabib and was totally demolished at UFC 229. The pair has been linked to a potential rematch, but Khabib isn’t just going to hand it to ‘The Notorious.’ He explained:

“Right now, if you guys ask me, of course he not deserve a title shot rematch, Conor, because he lost, he tapped. It wasn’t a close fight. I dominated everywhere, in every aspect, and I beat him. Like I told, I smashed him. Why do we need a rematch?”

Next Up

It was reported in numerous media outlets that Khabib and his manager Ali Abdelaziz have three potential opponents that they would like to face. The first is the most obvious and deserving: Tony Ferguson. This fight needs to happen this year or else the division is an absolute joke.

However, if Georges St. Pierre can be lured out of bed, then that is another potential giant match-up. Especially if the UFC opens up a 165 division. Now that is an exciting thought. The third is a boxing match against a certain Floyd Mayweather. The less said about that the better.
