Belal Muhammad will face welterweight champion Leon Edwards anytime, even if it is Ramadan.
Muhammad still has no UFC fight booked despite being promised a title shot against Edwards. The two first met in 2021, but the bout ended with a No Contest status after Edwards accidentally poked Muhamma’s eye. After this, “Remember The Name” made a five-fight winning streak, including his last fight against Gilbert Burns. Prior to that match, the fighter claimed that he was promised a title shot if he could defeat the Brazilian, which he did. The fighter later took the backup position when Edwards fought Colby Covington at UFC 296 to cement his position as the next challenger further. Despite that, there are still no words about his status.
The UFC continues to keep mum about the matter, with White earlier expressing a lack of interest in entertaining queries about the possibility of Muhammad being the next to fight the champ. Meanwhile, “Rocky” and his coach are uninterested in facing Muhammad again. Nonetheless, this does not deter the 35-year-old from calling out the champ repeatedly.
Now, while several UFC fighters have been announcing that they won’t participate at UFC 300 in April in order to observe Ramadan, Muhammad stressed that he will take Edwards at any given date. In his recent post on X, the fighter shared a photo of his earlier faceoff with Edwards, saying he will face the champ even if the fight is “tomorrow” or “next week.”
Needless to say, despite reiterating his callout, the UFC is still unresponsive about Muhammad. Yet, the fighter continues to hope, earlier noting that “Dana is not a man to go against his word.”
