Nate Diaz has been active in his Twitter account, saying that Covington was already knocked out by the current champion, Kamaru Usman. So why is he getting a rematch with Kamaru Usman? Diaz posted on his social media account throwing shade at Colby Covington.

Diaz recently moved up to welterweight and will likely stay in the division and fight other top contenders. He is coming off a dominating decision loss against Leon Edwards but in the last second, Diaz clipped Edwards that got Edwards in a lot of trouble. Sadly for Diaz, he was able to finish Edwards.

Initially, Diaz tweeted that Usman just knocked out Jorge Masvidal so why is he fighting someone he knocked out next? It doesn’t sit well with Diaz and went on to post in his social media.

He then clarified that he is not throwing any disrespect to the champion but rather to the title contender.

Although in terms of matchmaking, Covington currently makes the most sense since he is the highest ranked available and coming off a win against Tyron Woodley. One could argue that Covington only has one win, meanwhile Usman has been active beating Burns and Masvidal. It is simply because Usman is just that good of a champion.

Covington also gave lots of trouble in their first encounter. Going to the fifth round, both figthers were even so whoever won the last round would win the fight. No other fighter was close to beating Usman than Covington. Their fight was also one of the best fights in UFC history. It will be interesting to see how both fighters will adjust in their upcoming rematch.

The only other top fighter that Usman hasn’t beaten is Stephen Thompson and he is scheduled to face Gilbert Burns. Fans also want Thompson get a crack at Usman, since he offers a different style of match up.
