Being an MMA referee is one of the most difficult job in all of combat sports. In some fights you need split second timing and perfect positioning in order to be able to end the fight at just the right time in order not to draw criticisms that it was either allowed to go on too long, or stopped too soon.
A bad stoppage can ruin shows, destroy careers and get a referee ripped on publicly by Dana White. A late stoppage can ruin shows, lead to head injuries, and get a referee ripped on publicly by Dana White. Its pretty thankless.
