Dustin Poirier just retweeted a post of Oliveira vs Poirier targeted for UFC 269, which pretty much is a done deal. Poirier has been the clear number 1 lightweight since no other fighter has a better resume than he has. He was also the clear top title contender for the vacant belt, but he chose to get a trilogy fight against McGregor since it gave him a massive payday.

Poirier went on record to say that he is willing to step back and let Oliviera vs Chandler fight for the vacant belt. Who could blame him? A McGregor fight is a massive opportunity with or without a title on the line. After winning the third match, the only fight that makes sense for Poirier is obviously for the title.
After the trilogy, Poirier said that he has tremendous respect for the current champion, Oliveira. He added that Oliveira has had tough losses but went on to become a champion is such an amazing feat especially.
In terms of betting odds, Poirier is coming in as the favorite which also makes sense. He has a better resume beating guys like Gaethje, Alvarez, McGregor, and even Holloway. Oliveira has the ability to pull off a win, since he has shown to improve every fight, and is well rounded.
