Five Reasons Conor McGregor Will KO Nate Diaz This Time

0

Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz II might just be the most talked about fight in UFC history, and it goes down this weekend.

On a UFC media call recently Conor predicted that he would knock Nate out in the 2nd round of UFC 202’s main event, and there are plenty of reasons to believe that is exactly what will happen.

It might seem counter intuitive to be confident that a fighter who lost the first bout will have an easy time in the rematch, but when you look at their first fight as a whole (i.e not just how it ended) there is absolutely no reason to believe that Conor wouldn’t win 99 out of 100 fights with Nate.

Conor lost the first fight because he got gassed out smashing Nate’s face, not because he wasn’t the better fighter. This time around it will be Conor KO’ing Nate, and these are 5 reasons why.

Flashback: That Time Mike Tyson Tried To Punk Floyd Mayweather

There aren’t many fight fans that don’t know the name Mike Tyson. The former heavyweight world champion boxer was infamous for his fearsome knockouts in the 1980’s and 90’s. He also had a pretty rough demeanour to go with it.

Tyson’s knockouts became the stuff of legend as his career went on. Breaking the record for youngest ever boxing heavyweight champion at just 20 years old, there were few men who could withstand ‘Iron Mike’s’ power.

Bad Boy

There are bad boys, and then there’s Mike Tyson. Some people like to act tough and mean, but Tyson is an example of a truly hard man. His image as a rough and ready brute was accurate.

As time went on though, Tyson became a well-beloved character in the fight game. Once he retired after a few brutal losses, it became clear that he was more troubled than we’d ever realised. Then a new era of champions emerged.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The New Bad Boy

The new era of boxers is arguably led in terms of skill by Floyd Mayweather. ‘Money’ has also been the biggest bad boy of the latest crop, retiring with an unbeaten record of 49-0 last year.

When Tyson and Mayweather met on stage, the bad blood that ‘Iron Mike’ had towards ‘Money’ almost spilled over…

Seven Fastest Knockouts in UFC History

0

There is nothing more conclusive in a fight than a knockout victory, and this article celebrates the fastest knockouts ever in UFC history. Whenever a fight ends via flash knockout, the official announcement always involves one fighter laughing and another looking embarrassed to be there. You can’t get much more conclusive than that.

While there has been some debate over the years regarding what is actually the fastest knockout, we’ve grouped fights that ended on the same second as tied.

Here are the top 7 quickest knockouts in UFC history

Nate Diaz Trashes GSP and Tyron Woodley for Being Friendly With Each Other

0

Top ranked UFC lightweight contender Nate Diaz is known for the way he talks trash to his opponents both inside and outside the cage. Never one to shy away from a good verbal beatdown, Diaz recently put former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and current champion Tyron Woodley on blast for negotiating a fight by being friendly with each other.

St-Pierre retired in 2013 after narrowly beating then-top contender Johny Hendricks by controversial split decision. He has since been away from MMA, instead focusing on his acting career. But rumors of a return to the Octagon have heated up recently, with a screenshot of a text conversation between he and Tyron Woodley has further solidified the rumors.

Woodley took to Twitter a few days ago, posting the said screenshot.

In the conversation, Woodley appeals to GSP to come out of retirement and make a fight between himself and the former UFC 170-lb. champ. “The Chosen One” won the title last month, with a shocking first round KO of Robbie Lawler.

Woodley isn’t wrong about it being a big fight though. GSP coming out of retirement to go straight into a title shot against the reigning champion is compelling drama, regardless if the two are buddy-buddy.

Diaz was quoted in the first installment of the UFC 202 Embedded series saying, “I seen Woodley and GSP shaking hands and text messaging ‘let’s make a fight’. That’s boring.

“You just killed the whole thing for our sake. Don’t no one want to see no fight that friends set up. (Expletive) that,” said Diaz.

Diaz is certainly right about creating hype for a fight by drumming up drama. That’s exactly how he got the Conor McGregor fight in the first place, by calling out the UFC featherweight champion complete with the usual expletives.

In true Stockton bad boy fashion, Diaz then went on to throw out a crazy challenge to both GSP and Woodley.

“How about me and my guys versus you and your guys? Now that’s entertainment. Let’s see that. That’s good TV and that’s real (expletive),” Diaz said.

The name Diaz is absolutely huge right now. The younger of the infamous duo is currently about to take part in the biggest pay-per-view rematch of all-time. Nate Diaz is preparing to take on Conor McGregor this Saturday August 20, and the world has been tuning in.

Stockton TV is what the fans are viewing ahead of UFC 202. Nate Diaz was certainly a cult hero before his first fight with Conor McGregor, but he was never a superstar. Once he choked McGregor out cold, people started really taking notice.

Nick Diaz was already very well known at this point though. Not only had he put in solidly entertaining performances against Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, he’d also become somewhat of a people’s champion.

Once the Nevada Athletic Commission (unfairly) banned Nick Diaz for five years, he really was launched in to crazy fame. His status was boosted in an ironic twist on the situation, with pop icon Cher and many others voicing their support.

Suspension Ends

Though the NAC could never actually prove that Diaz was legitimately over the allowed levels of Marijuana after UFC 183, he was still suspended 18 months. That ban recently ended, and now he’s back in the title mix again.

This newly released video is something else though…

LOOK: Nate Diaz & Conor McGregor In Amazing Shape

Nate Diaz knew he could beat Conor McGregor back at UFC 196, even if no one else did. The Stockton bad boy believed enough in his skills to take the fight at the last-minute and perform the way he did. But the rematch is a completely different thing, and Diaz knows he has to come to the Octagon in the best shape of his life.

Which is why with a full training camp featuring weeks of preparation for the highly anticipated rematch at UFC 202 which takes place this weekend, August 20 at Las Vegas’ new T-Mobile Arena, Diaz is looking absolutely cut up and in the best shape of his life.

McGregor has always been in great shape. He’s ridiculed Diaz on what he refers to as Diaz’ “skinny fat” body, but if these latest photos are to be believed, Diaz is looking rock solid.

Diaz is winding down camp and is scheduled to make the trek to the city of sin for fight weekend in just a couple of days. The bout with McGregor is on pace to be even bigger than the first and will most likely shatter all kinds of UFC records…

Russian Wrestler Gets Choked Out Cold But Still Wins Gold Medal

Somebody might have to tell Roman Vlasov how it all went down, but in the end he won the gold medal for Russia.  He did the same thing in 2012, though he stayed much more conscious that time.

Vlasov was choked unconscious during his 75kg greco-roman semi-final match up against Croatian Bozo Starcevic but was still able to win not only that match-up, but later the gold medal match-up against Denmark’s Mark Madsen as well.

Heading into the later stages of the semi-final match against Starcevic, Vlasov had a comfortable lead when his opponent wrapped his arm around his neck. At the time the move was considered legal, and in fact 2 points were awarded for the move.

The match had to be stopped however, when officials noticed the somewhat important fact that Vlasov was unconscious. The bout was delayed until Vlasov was able to continue, and he was able to carry on and close out the bout to move onto the semi-finals.

Conor McGregor Not Sure About Going Back To Featherweight

0

Conor McGregor made the mistake of overlooking Nate Diaz prior to their first bout at UFC 196 earlier this year. In the lead up to that fight, McGregor was already looking forward to challenging then-UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler for the 170-lb. title.

In fact, McGregor only took the Diaz fight at welterweight so he could test the waters at that weight class. That seems to have changed now as McGregor appears laser focused on who he has in front of him now, and not who he might need to fight down the road.

Diaz vs. McGregor at UFC 196...

Back to 145?

“I don’t even pay attention to it,” McGregor said last Friday night, after a session with media at the gym. “Right now here I am, a couple of days out from a big one. I’ll think about who’s next and what’s next and all those other guys talking sh*t after the fight.”

McGregor will need to keep his focus on Diaz at the moment. Diaz came from behind in their first bout and forced McGregor to tap, shocking the world with an upset victory. The rematch is set for the main event of UFC 202, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 20, less than a week away.

WhiteDana2_1d36a.jpeg

UFC President Dana White confirmed this week that McGregor’s next bout after UFC 202 will be at featherweight, in a defense of his 145-lb. strap. The interim champion at that weight is Jose Aldo, whom McGregor knocked out in 13 seconds last December.

Aldo won the interim UFC featherweight title by unanimous decision over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200.

“If Frankie had have won that last fight after all the sh*t he was talking and his team was talking, it would have been set in stone, I’m going back there to shut that man up,” said McGregor, who sounded not too keen on facing Aldo again. “But [Frankie] got slapped around in that fight, couldn’t do nothing — against a guy that I KO’d in one shot.”

Suffice to say McGregor needs to get past Diaz first before reigniting trash talk regarding other potential bouts. Both McGregor and Diaz have been training long and hard for the rematch, especially Diaz who had a little less than 2 weeks to prepare for their first encounter.

By all accounts, UFC 202 is shaping up to be the biggest UFC event in history due to the massive hype surrounding the main event. There is a lot riding on this fight for the Irishman.

If McGregor loses, he could fizzle out into obscurity and the aura of invincibility he had built would be gone (if it isn’t gone now). If McGregor wins, then the Mystic Mac train rolls on.

You can’t tell McGregor that though, who remains his usual confident self.

“I’ve just gotta see it out, see what happens after this fight. I’m the featherweight world champion. The guy I KO’d in 13 seconds is holding the interim. What does that tell you? I’m leaps and bounds ahead of that featherweight division,” said McGregor.

“They’re praying I don’t come back,” McGregor said. “Tell me one time I missed weight. I even made championship weight when I wasn’t supposed to make championship, there was no championship on the line. They’re praying I don’t come back. I’ve beaten everybody in the division.”

Bully Picks On Woman Until MMA Fighter Saves The Day

You hear all the time that martial arts is primarily for self-defense, yet in the age of viral videos all we see nowadays are a bunch of idiots on the streets getting into stupid fights which end up bad for all parties involved.

Rarely do we see footage of martial arts being used in the proper manner. So when something like this comes along, it’s a breath of fresh air.

In this video we see two men getting into a heated argument on the sidewalk. Apparently one man was disrespecting a lady until a guy with combat skills steps in and saves the day — MMA fighter style.
