Nick Diaz is an MMA cult hero. The Stockton, California native’s last appearance resulted in a 2015 no-contest against Anderson Silva. You have to go all the way back to 2011 for his last win. But the elder Diaz brother still has the love of fans. Between marijuana suspensions and him not caring, we haven’t seen him.
Meanwhile, his younger brother Nate got his big breaks thanks to an unexpected saga with Conor McGregor. Then he went and fought for the BMF title. But now the elder Diaz looks set to return. His manager says that he wants to come back in early 2021.
While Dana White refuses to get his hopes up, a whole host of UFC fighters have sat up. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson was amongst the first to actively call out the former Strikeforce champion. But now Conor McGregor has added his name to the mix. Imagine how big this would be.
Line them up

Line Them Up
McGregor responded to a tweet on the BT Sports account. He wrote “Line them up,” in reference to the Diaz Brothers. The Irishman has already fought Nate twice. He lost the first by way of a second-round rear-naked choke at UFC 196. However, McGregor got revenge after a decision win at UFC 202.
Most people expected the men to fight a tie-breaker. However, McGregor moved onto bigger and better things. First of all, he won the lightweight title, and then he fought Floyd Mayweather for the biggest paycheck of his career. Now he says he is retired, but everybody knows that isn’t true.
Return
If Diaz does come back, then McGregor would make sense as a potential opponent. The fans love both men so it would be a huge pay-per-view. However, it isn’t Nick’s only option. There is already talk of lining him up to take on Jorge Masvidal. ‘Gamebred’ also defeated his younger brother so this would be a great storyline.
But perhaps more realistic is a rematch against Robbie Lawlor. The pair fought way back at UFC 47 with Diaz winning by a rare KO. He has only achieved this twice in his career with the other coming against Koji Oishi. Typically, Diaz swarms his opponents and wins by TKO.
Shots Fired
Meanwhile, Mike Perry took his shot at Diaz in a series of tweets. The Florida native defeated Mickey Gall in his last bout but lost his previous two before that. Furthermore, he punched out an older man in a restaurant recently. The UFC said that they would not book him until he sought treatment. However, he believes that he could beat Diaz.
“Who you hanging with @nickdiaz209 ? Y’all look soft and your nose looks worse then mine,” Perry wrote. “Your big head is a great target for this right hand old man. Look like you been riding ig horses with that stance. If you a gun slinger you shooting a 22
“F**k the Diaz brothers ! East coast b***h ! I’m not your average internet shit talker @nickdiaz209 , you can cut a check and I’ll show up if you really wanna do something about it. You won’t tho…”
