Does Jon Jones Actually Feel Threatened? He’s Back on Social Media Commenting Again and This Time The Knives Are Out…

If you follow MMA in any shape or form you’ll know that Daniel Cormier has just become the UFC heavyweight champion of the world. It’s a phenomenal achievement that finally legitimizes him as a champion after his whole nightmare back-and-forth with Jon Jones.

No matter what he does he’ll always be carrying Jones on his back. Or at least as long as he holds the light-heavyweight belt as well. Now only the second man to hold two belts simultaneously in the UFC, he’s done what Jones was meant to do.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that ‘Bones’ doesn’t quite know how to deal with that. He’s already signaled on Twitter that he’s going to be coming back, but now he’s stooping to comment on Instagram pictures like a petty troll, instead of just letting DC have his moment.

No Class

It’s all come about from Dana White posting a picture of an exhausted Cormier on Twitter. The dude is completely oblivious to the world around him and looks a million miles away from being a world-class athlete. White captioned it: “The baddest man on the planet”. It’s funny.

Of course, Jones being Jones had to get his word in. Their relationship is absolutely toxic. Forget the fake WWE beef between Lesnar and DC last weekend. Jones and Cormier’s is as real as it gets. He commented:

“@danawhite Come on Dana you already know why. I salute him for winning the heavyweight title but the light heavyweight title. Let’s be serious.”

Let’s be Serious

If we’re going to be serious, we can say that Jon Jones has been stripped three times of his title. Yes, he’s beaten DC by decision. However, the second time, like it or not, he tested positive for turinabol, an anabolic steroid. While he has claimed that it was a tainted supplement, he faces four years out because of his record.

Oh yeah, he’s tested positive for banned substances in the past. Not just cocaine but clomiphene and letrozole. Once again he claimed that he did not knowingly take prohibited supplements. As one of the few multi-millionaires in the UFC, that’s dubious.

While many people say that DC will always have an asterisk beside his career because of the Jones fights, it’s equally true that Jones will have the same because of his PED use – intentional or not. If you test positive once, you get the benefit of the doubt… but twice?

Out of Action

He also faces the prospect of never fighting Cormier again. DC is set to defend his title against Brock Lesnar. That fight is set to take place early next year when Lesnar is cleared by USADA in January. He has also signaled that he’d like to defend his light-heavyweight championship against ‘Shogun’ Rua, which is very weird – but hey hey, the champ-champ does what he wants.

Jones has indisputably destroyed his own legacy. He’s also cost himself the opportunity of becoming the first man to hold the light-heavyweight and heavyweight belts at the same time. It’s the first time DC has truly got one over him and it’s going to be in the history books forever.
