In case you were wondering what ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ was talking about in the later parts of the video, she is referring to Tarverdyan’s corner advice to Ronda Rousey at UFC 193.
Between rounds one and two, Edmond can be heard telling his fighter she was ‘winning the fight,’ before giving some rather generic and unhelpful advice. Rousey of course was dominated throughout the bout, minutes later getting knocked out cold with a head kick.
Notice how Rousey’s Mom pretty much called it as far as Tarverdyan’s boxing coaching, as Rousey looked sloppy and un-drilled in the stand up. So is it bad coaching? Well, he certainly didn’t seem to share the consensus view on the main event at UFC 193:
“I wouldn’t say in the striking game she was getting the best of Ronda, you know, but I have to watch it again. But we know this was not a striking match; we know that Ronda is smart enough to take the fight where she is best at and today she did. Holly stopped an attempt on an armbar and stopped some of the takedowns. She did a good job.”
