The fight against Namajunas proved that VanZant can take a beating and keep coming for more, but her latest bout against Bec Rawlings proved she has the striking ability needed to be a top strawweight in the UFC.
This was also VanZant’s first fight back in the UFC after her time on Dancing with the Stars. The concern from the UFC and VanZant fans is that the lure of Hollywood would be too great for her, and like Gina Carano, would decide that it was easier to be an actor than it is to get beat up by the world’s best fighters. But VanZant wasn’t lured into Hollywood despite the great TV ratings she drew on DWTS, and she proved at UFC on Fox 21 that she’s only going to get better.
VanZant produced her greatest performance to date, when just seconds into the 2nd round she hit Rawlings with a switch kick and finished her off with a series of punches.
