5. Tied: Holly Holm & Germaine de Randamie – UFC 208

Holly Holm fought Germaine De Randamie for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight championship at UFC 208. What should have been a historic moment for women’s MMA will forever have an asterisks next to it. The consensus top women’s featherweight in the world, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, was not involved. How can de Randamie be champion without first going through Cyborg?

According to the UFC, Cyborg claimed she was unable to fight at UFC 208, as it would be too difficult to cut the weight in time. UFC then decided that she wasn’t in line for the title.

Holly Holm even came into this fight on a 2-fight losing streak. How exactly was this fight supposed to get fans excited for the new division?
