Aljamain Sterling revealed that the pay-per-view sales of UFC 292 events didn’t meet his expectations. With this, the former bantamweight champ expressed his frustration over the matter, questioning Sean O’Malley’s capability to attract viewers and adding that he would have just taken a vacation if he knew this would happen.

Sterling faced O’Malley in August. In the bout with “Sugar,” Sterling ended with a second-round KO loss, which took away the belt from him. For Sterling, nonetheless, this seems to be not the biggest issue: it is the low PVP sales of the event.

In his recent YouTube content, the fighter aired his sentiments and expressed his doubt over the rival’s ability to draw attention that will benefit UFC events.

“I got the pay-per-view numbers, and me and her were going through it, and I’m just like, ‘These are the numbers that this guy was trying to say he’s this big pay-per-view star?’” Sterling said without sharing any number. “I’m just like, ‘Oh my God.’”

The fight came just after “Funk Master” successfully defended the belt against Henry Cejudo, making his last fight a quick turnaround. However, although the fighter admitted being thankful for what he earned at the event, he shared that it would have been better if he just took a rest and a vacation than to fight with a disappointing sale.

“When I saw the numbers, I literally said to her, ‘If I had any idea this is what the numbers would have been, if I could have predicted that this is what it would have been, my ass would have waited and taken my vacation then,’” Sterling said.

“I rolled the dice. I trusted that the bag was going to be this blow-me-away kind of thing, bigger than all the other ones. It wasn’t. With that being said, it is what it is. I’m still happy I made some extra money. I had a really good year. I can’t complain about that. Life’s good. I can take care of myself. I can take care of my family.”
