Conor McGregor has chosen to focus on a lot of other things besides his UFC career. There is of course his relationship with long-time girlfriend Dee Devlin and their child on the way. And then of course there’s the boxing megabout opposite Floyd Mayweather looming. However fans, and even fighters, have grown tired of McGregor’s talk and just wants him to fight.
Tony Ferguson, top UFC lightweight contender, just took to Twitter to destroy McGregor in literally less than 140 characters.

Tony Ferguson Isn’t Too Happy About Conor McGregor Taking A Break From MMA
Ferguson, like many others, is looking for a big money fight against the Irishman. McGregor won the UFC lightweight title back at UFC 205 in New York. He stopped former champ Eddie Alvarez in just a little over two minutes, making it look very easy.
With the victory, McGregor made history to become the first man to hold two UFC titles, one at featherweight and one at lightweight, simultaneously. However, with no plans in sight to defend the 145 lb. strap, UFC President Dana White was left with no choice but to strip McGregor of the featherweight belt.
Detractors were happy to hear the news. One of the biggest knocks on McGregor is that he has never defended the featherweight belt. Keeping the strap on the shelf caused the division to stall. Although he was stripped and Jose Aldo was upgraded to full champion from interim, it just doesn’t feel the same.
Who Would Win If Ferguson Took On McGregor?
So you can surely understand Ferguson’s ire when he speaks of McGregor being a paper champ. Would a showdown between Ferguson and McGregor be entertaining and competitive? Absolutely. Ferguson is one of the most talented fighters in the promotion, regardless of weight division.
However Ferguson’s battle isn’t against McGregor at the moment, so he would best keep his eye off the Irishman for now. “El Cucuy” is scheduled to face off with a certain Russian named Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov at UFC 209.
Ferguson and Nurmagomedov are 1a and 1b in terms of top contender talent. They lock horns on March 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to determine an interim lightweight champ in McGregor’s absence.
I don’t think tony is all that compelling of a challenge for Connor. He’s a good powerful striker, which Connor doesn’t seem to have trouble with because of his his speed
