UFC Lightweight Contender Tony Ferguson Doesn’t Take Himself Too Seriously…
Tony Ferguson is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC today. The No. 2 ranked lightweight fighter is known for his unorthodox striking and for being very effective off of his back. Coming off the back of a win against rising star and established loudmouth Kevin Lee, Ferguson proved that his ten-fight unbeaten record is no fluke.
‘El Cucuy’ takes on Khabib Nurmagamedov in New York on April 7, in the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York City. The pair is fighting in the main event of UFC 223 for the undisputed lightweight title. Although Conor McGregor is still the champion, the Irishman will be stripped as soon as we get a result from this fight.
It’s the fourth time that this fight has been booked so fingers crossed this time it actually happens. Ferguson has been keeping his fans updated with his training routines, and by the looks of it… well, let’s just say he doesn’t seem too stressed out.
Biggest Fight of 2018
The pair is fighting on arguably the biggest card of 2018 so far. Sure, Daniel Cormier takes on Stipe Miocic later this year – and that’s literally massive. However, whoever wins the lightweight title on April 7 will likely be the man who welcomes Conor McGregor back into the octagon.
It’s a fight between two legitimately elite mixed martial artists, and the post-fight implications are huge. That’s why fans are so excited for the pair to finally meet in the octagon. Nurmagamedov, with his incredible 25-0 unbeaten record, is deservingly the favorite on the night.
Clearly, though, Ferguson deserves respect and he’s not letting his underdog status get him down. He’s one of the wildest personalities in the UFC today. Training with 10th Planet Ju-Jitsu boss Eddie Bravo will do that to you.

Wacky Videos
Ferguson uploaded a video showing his unusual training methods. We shouldn’t be too surprised. The man is known to build his own training centers by hand in the outdoors of California. It gives him a crazy armory of tools to choose from, including unorthodox kicks, elbows and the sort of bizarre movement that Conor McGregor would be proud of.
In the first of his two most recent videos, Ferguson is hitting a speed bag. All normal there right? Yeah until the camera pans down and shows the Michigan-born fighter is wearing a slick pair of dress pants and a lovely pair of shoes. Get a man who can do both!
The second video also shows him hitting a speed bag. Of course this time he’s wearing a blindfold, because why wouldn’t he be? It’s Tony Ferguson. He does whatever he wants.

Crazy Card
UFC 223 is on paper the best card of the year so far. UFC bantamweight champion Rose Namajunas takes on Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event. Joanna ‘Champion’ will be seeking revenge after ‘Thug’ Rose knocked her out last November in New York. Ladies and gentlemen, that fight guarantees fireworks.
If that isn’t enough for you, Artem Lobov is fighting in the prelims against Alex Caceres. Where Conor McGregor’s teammates fight, Conor McGregor usually appears. Considering Lobov is his training partner, and Ferguson and Nurmagamedov are fighting for his belt, it would not be a surprise to see the ‘Notorious’ make a dramatic entrance.
