No.8: Yoel Romero vs. Luke Rockhold
This UFC 221 headlining clash was originally scheduled to be for the interim middleweight title, but Yoel Romero came in almost 3lbs overweight and as such he was ruled out of claiming the belt even if he emerged victorious.
Nevertheless, there was still a big fight to be won and it was a relatively uneventful encounter through the first two rounds.
However, Romero then made up for that early in the third round when he landed a thunderous left hand that momentarily appeared to short cirtcuit Rockhold’s body, sending him toppling head-first into the cage on his way to the canvas.
As the former champion sat up, still dazed and confused from the blow, ‘The Soldier Of God’ then simply leaned over and blasted him with a brutal uppercut that knocked him out cold.
