Meet the new undisputed UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway...

The UFC just announced that the The Ultimate Series will be coached by the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega, so that means it will take some time. That may not work well with Max Holloway since that may force him to wait until the fight happens which is until the TUF series ends.

Max Holloway had a controversial decision loss against Alexander Volkanovski and he was also the only person to beat Brian Ortega, so it would make sense for that Holloway is front-liner for next title fight. Unfortunately, he might need to wait or he could choose to risk and fight if wants to stay active but if he loses his chances of getting a title shot is lowered.

There are a lot of top featherweight contenders but no other fighter has better say, since Zabit has not fought for quite a while due to the Yair Rodriguez pulling out numerous times. Zabit certainly is one of the top prospects in the division but due to lack of big names, he needs to fight one more top contender. Holloway vs Zabit is an interesting matchup but it still depends if Holloway is willing to risk a fight.

Max Holloway is considered by many as one of the greatest featherweights in UFC history, probably the only one with better argument may be Jose Aldo but the scary thing is Holloway may still be in his prime or even peaking. His best performance was his last fight against Calvin Kattar where he outboxed the so called “best boxer” in the division. As for Volkanovski, a lot of Holloway fans were threatening him since he beat Holloway in a controversial decision. These type of fans are sickening to watch because Volkanovski had no control with the judge’s score and that it was a pretty close fight if you rewatch it again.

Even though Ortega lost to Holloway, don’t count him out. His fighting style has evolved since his loss. He looked like a different fighter against Chan Sung Jung and continues to improve his game. His BJJ could give problems to Volkanovski.

Do you think Holloway should fight a top contender or just wait until the Volkanovski vs Ortega is done?
