A handful of the best Bantamweights on the planet took centre stage last night, with Cody Garbrandt scoring a KO victory in the battle of the undefeated Main Event and former Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao making his debut at Featherweight, but it was the intriguing wrestling showdown between Bryan Caraway and Aljamain Sterling, that was the outstanding technical battle of the night.

Aljamain Sterling finally got his wish last night as he got his hands on Bryan Caraway, after months of trash talk and goading the long time, top ranked Caraway into the octagon. Unfortunately for ‘Funkamster’ however, Caraway proved to be too gritty for the young athletic wrestler.

Sterling appeared to have the edge in the early goings of the fight, controlling most of the first round, taking Caraway’s back with relative ease. At one point ‘Funkmaster’ caught the veteran in a full nelson, which looked as uncomfortable, as it must have felt. While Caraway showed a lot of resolve to not submit, UFC commentator, John Anik described the technique as “Medieval Torture”.
