Father time may have caught up against Manny Pacquiao and this may be the last time we get to see him inside the ring. Yordenis Ugas was a much bigger opponent and he was also highly skilled that Pacquiao had no answer to his jabs alone.
Ugas showed that he is the better fighter that night and despite being the underdog, he still showed why he was the champion. It was just too much for Pacquiao, he did not have the same footwork he used to, where he would punch in every angle. The reason Pacquaio is hard to beat is his footwork and awkward angles, take that away it is much easier for Ugas to outbox him.
It was still impressive for a 42-year-old fighting senator to compete against a great boxer like Yordenis Ugas. Pacquiao may have lost but it did not ruin his legacy, in fact it may just show how great he is fighting at such a later age.
As for Ugas, he might try to unify another belt as he has proven that he is an elite boxer and belongs with the best boxers in the division. He could choose to face either Terence Crawford or Errol Spence Jr, although a fight with Spence is more likely mainly because of their promotion.
What is next for Pacquiao, he said that he needs time to rest and think about his future as a boxer. Will he still be able to compete at the highest level? There is also another rumor that Manny Pacquiao might run for president this coming 2022 in his home country?
Many fans want Pacquiao to retire for the sake of his health, getting hit for long amounts of time is not for any person. Pacquiao even admitted that he felt stiff inside the ring, he did not have the same athleticism that he used to have back in his prime, and he hasn’t fought for more than 2 years. Also from preparing for a southpaw then orthodox is not an easy task to do.
