Nick Diaz Has Been Temporarily Released on Bail as His Shocking Domestic Battery Case Continues…
The leading member of the Skrap Pack, Nick Diaz, has been released on bail after reappearing in court for a hearing on Tuesday. Diaz has been charged with domestic battery by strangulation (a felony) and misdemeanor domestic battery.
It’s really not a good look for one of the most popular UFC fighters in recent history. Sure, he hasn’t fought since 2015, when he lost to Anderson Silva – since overturned to a no-contest after both men tested positive for banned substances – but he’s still one of the most interesting personalities in the sport.
However, nobody likes it when a man batters a woman. If these dark allegations prove to be true, Diaz will lose a LOT of fans. Right now, he’s innocent until proven guilty and has been released on bail, pending a preliminary hearing on July 10.

Bail Granted
Bail of $18,000 was granted to Diaz by Las Vegas Justice Court judge Amy Chelini. The prosecutor initially requested that his bail is increased from this figure to $100,000 dollars. However, this request was turned down by the judge.
To put that in perspective, Conor McGregor was released on bail of $50,000 dollars following his attack on the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York last April. He was charged with criminal assault and criminal mischief. UFC President Dana White probably has a folder for all his fighters who have committed crimes. Jon Jones is on the cover smiling out.
Diaz was not actually in attendance on Tuesday. Instead, he was represented by his attorney Ross Goodman. Understandably, the Stockton native has been keeping a low profile since the alleged incident. You don’t want to be making headlines when you’re being charged with domestic assault.

Allegations
Initially, the victim told police that Diaz threw her into the corner of the pool, but then changed her story to say that he was going to but she held onto him and fell in. The woman, who says that she was the Californian’s on-off girlfriend, was taken to hospital with a potentially broken hip.
The police arrest report reveals that she had reddening on her neck and head, bruising on both legs and a pain in her head. It described how she was “visibly in a large amount of pain and could not walk”. Basically, she’s a walking evidence book.

Not Looking Good
It’s really not what fans of the Diaz brothers will want to be hearing, as the pair were said to be moving closer to a return this year. The UFC is said to be keeping a very close eye on how the trial develops.
Meanwhile, Nick’s younger brother Nate celebrated becoming a father last week by getting involved in a brawl at a BJJ event last week. It clearly runs in the family.
