Page signed a 2-year 5-fight agreement with Bellator back in December of 2014. His 5th fight under that deal will be at Bellator 165 on November 19th. This has led to speculation that Page could potentially jump ship to the UFC, and possibly make a dream-fight with Conor McGregor a reality.

Confusing things a little is that Page also stated on the MMA Hour this summer that he in fact had 2 fights, not 1, left on his deal. This would mean that Page and Bellator President Scott Coker have agreed to extend his deal, albeit in the short-term only. Whether it is 2 or 1 fights left on his contract appears to be something only he and Scott Coker know for sure.

Michael Page to the UFC?

Adding fuel to speculation that he could jump ship to the UFC, Page told reporters back in September he thinks the two promotions should work together on a cross-branded show.

“It would bring me back to those WWE days. Man, it was immense, I remember watching those shows and that changed the game for them. If the UFC and Bellator could just shake hands and work together on a few things then it would be better for the fighters, better for the fans and better for everyone. That’s that man–I’d be down with that.” Page stated.

Unfortunately for fans who hope to witness this, it is nothing more than a fantasy. Dana White has consistently turned down cross-promotion, the main reason Fedor Emelianenko has never fought in a UFC cage.

Will we ever see Michael Page vs. Conor McGregor? Only if Page signs with the UFC. We will know more about how likely that is by the end of the year. You can imagine that if the UFC wants Page (which I’m sure they do) dangling the idea of a fight with Conor in front of him might be all it takes to get him to jump.
