Rumors continue to circulate about a possible Mayweather vs McGregor boxing match, now even supposedly having a date and host city. The reported date is September 17th in Las Vegas. Even though McGregor is clearly working with the UFC to try and book his next fight inside the octagon, talk of boxing isn’t far from the ‘Notorious’ name.

McGregor recently hired out a gym in California and sparred with Chris Van Heerden, a World Champion boxer. Van Heerden has spoken to ESNews on how he fared against the Dublin native. While Van Heerden was complimentary towards certain aspects of McGregor’s boxing, he felt as though any pro boxer could beat the ‘Notorious’, let alone Floyd Mayweather.

Van Heerden, a Welterweight World Champion boasts a 24-2-1 record inside the ring and has always wondered who would win in a boxer vs MMA fighter, fight. He believes that Mayweather would finish McGregor as early as he would like, should he not chose to play with him.

“With 16oz gloves, I wasn’t fazed at all!” – Van Heerden, when asked about McGregor’s power.
