Nick’s last win in the Octagon was in October of 2011, when he defeated BJ Penn at UFC 137. He was actually supposed to face Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship on that night but plans were changed.

Nick, similar to what Conor did for UFC 200, failed to show up to several media events and Dana White opted to give the title opportunity to Carlos Condit instead.

Diaz would eventually get the title opportunity against GSP at UFC 158 in Montreal, when GSP took him down and controlled him for 5 rounds to earn a decision victory.

Diaz has said he is open to a fight with Woodley, if the price is right that is.  Nick hasn’t announced what his intentions are for his return yet, most likely due to wanting to concentrate on helping his brother defeat Conor McGregor on August 20th.

When Nick does return however, it will be for a big money fight.
