‘Rowdy’ Ronda Finally Made Her WWE Debut and it Was a Massive Success…

Ronda Rousey made a fantastic start to life as a professional wrestler last night. She made her debut at WrestleMania 34 in New Orlean’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, and it went as well as she could have hoped. ‘Rowdy’ took part in a tag-team bout with Kurt Angle as her partner against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

There has been much speculation about how Rousey would fare in the entertainment industry. The former UFC bantamweight champion was a pioneer in women’s mixed martial arts. However, her career came to a disappointing end with two straight losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.

Her inability to cope with the media was strongly highlighted at this time. Many questioned whether or not she’d make in the WWE, where personality is as important as fighting skill. Well, Rousey answered her critics in style last night. If she continues as she has started, she’s going to be a WWE superstar.

Blockbuster

Together with fellow Olympian Kurt Angle, Rousey put the hurt on McMahon and Triple H in an incredibly entertaining display. In a storyline continuation of Rousey’s Wrestlemania 31 appearance, where she fought against the same opponents, she definitely looked and acted the part.

Rousey came out wearing a leather jacket and kilt, with ‘Rowdy’ emblazoned across her white top. The male wrestlers kicked off the show before she was finally tagged in. Credit to McMahon for letting Rousey throw her around like a doll.

Beast Mode

One of the most noticeable aspects of the entire show was Rousey’s phenomenal condition. She was athletic and physical, even getting to use some striking at times. The best part was when she tried to use her trademark armbar move, as she tried to get the finish.

It finally came when Rousey locked McMahon in that same armbar that she used to finish half the UFC bantamweight roster. ‘Rowdy’ looked calm and professional the whole way through the show, with no signs of nerves.

This was definitely the people’s main event. It’s uncertain what’s the next step for Rousey in WWE, but there’s no doubt that she’s set for a title run. It was also great to see the UFC officially giving her their support, with WWE generally regarded as a rival by the organization.

Great Night

In the main event of the night, Brock Lesnar defended his title against Roman Reigns. Lesnar, who is an absolute monster, used his strength and power to dominate his opponent, even cutting him at one point.

However, it was noticeable that the crowd wasn’t very interested in this fight. Part of this could be because Lesnar is being heavily linked to a UFC return. Dana White has confirmed as much. With Reigns unpopular and Lesnar on his way, it didn’t give fans much to invest in.

The former heavyweight champion must serve a six-month ban, after testing positive for a banned substance, before he can officially step back into the octagon. It’s believed that he may get a title shot as soon as he comes back, against either Stipe Miocic or Daniel Cormier.
