4. Tim Sylvia UFC 44

Not long after Josh Barnett fled to Japan in order to avoid anymore drug tests, Tim Sylvia got popped following his successful UFC Heavyweight Title defence over Gan McGee at UFC 44.

Sylvia would later say that he had took a banned substance in the hopes of shedding some excess body weight from his frame, and he volunteered to forfeit his title.  He would fight Frank Mir for the vacated title at UFC 48, where he would lose when the referee stopped the fight after Mir broke Sylvia’s arm.

It would take another 3 years but Sylvia would finally win back the championship at UFC 59, when he knocked out Andrei Arlovski.
