Jack Hermansson vs. Chris Weidman

After an ill-fated move to light-heavyweight that saw him KO’d in the first round by Dominick Reyes, former middleweight champion Chris Weidman is moving back down to the division he once ruled.

However, it’s been some time since Weidman put together a solid run in that weight class too, having lost four of his last five fights there, and even more worryingly all of those losses came by way of strikes.

The 35-year-old is convinced he still has what it takes though and he’ll be forced to prove it in this fight as though Hermansson is coming off a TKO loss, he was one of the division’s most in-form fighters prior to that with four wins in a row that included defeating Thales Leites, Dave Branch and Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza.

This headlining bout at UFC Fight Night 174 isn’t scheduled to take place until May 2nd, but perhaps in this instance it would be a blessing in disguise if Weidman is forced to take an even longer break due to the coronavirus situation given his tough run of knockout losses.
