Henry Cejudo vs. Jose Aldo
We are now less than two months away from another milestone event for the promotion in the shape of UFC 250 on May 9th in Brazil, and though that’s enough time to give some hope that it might go ahead, there’s a great deal of uncertainty about it, especially given that even President Trump has suggested that measures like social distancing could last for months to come.
If so then UFC 250’s centrepiece, a bantamweight title fight between current champion Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo is on shaky ground.
This was to be Cejudo’s first title defense at bantamweight after a stunning run of form that saw him finally end Demetrious Johnson’s record-breaking title reign to claim the flyweight belt, then defend it against TJ Dillashaw, who was the champion at 135lbs at the time, before going on to TKO Marlon Moraes to seize the vacant bantamweight strap in January of last year.
It’s been somewhat of an anticlimactic time since that memorable streak as Cejudo has now been out of action for well over a year, so the sooner he’s back in the Octagon the better, and though Aldo may no longer be at his peak, the former featherweight champion is still a worthy opponent for ‘Triple C’ that fans will tune in to watch.
