Alistair Overeem vs. Walt Harris
This heavyweight clash was originally scheduled for December of last year, but had to be cancelled due to disturbing news that Walt Harris’ stepdaughter had gone missing, which tragically led to the discovery that she had been murderered.
At the time Harris was unbeaten in his previous four fights inside the Octagon, including his previous two wins coming by way of strikes in a combined total of 62 seconds.
With the fight then rescheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 172, Harris was hoping to try to put the horrors of last year behind him and claim the biggest win of his career to date against Overeem, who is coming off a last-gasp KO loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik in December.
That came after Overeem had registered back-to-back victories, so he’s eager to get back to those winning ways, but with the event now being part of the series of events that have been indefinitely postponed by the UFC it may be quite some time before he gets that chance.
