Phillip Miller
He might not be familiar name to some, but back in the early 2000’s Phillip Miller was compiling a formidable MMA record in the middleweight division.
It’s notable for instance, that Miller defeated Jake Shields in only his second ever fight, while by the time he arrived in the UFC in 2002 he was already wielding a 13-0 record, with 11 of those wins coming inside the distance.
With a decision win over James Zikic at UFC 38 and a rear-naked choke submission against Mark Weir at UFC 40, together with another win on the scorecards against Moacir Oliveira at HOOKnSHOOT 2 in early 2013, he improved his record to an impressive 16-0.
However, the 29-year-old Miller then suddenly vanished from the fight game, never to return.
It would emerge years later that Miller had retired to become a police officer in Los Angeles, which he still does to this day.
