8. Tae Hyun Bang vs Leo Kuntz

Our first couple of examples involved fights which took place early in MMA’s modern era. This fight from 2015, however, was confirmed as fixed and sent a fighter away to prison as a result.

Tae Hyun Bang admitted to Korean authorities that his fight with Leo Kuntz was fixed. Bang said he caved to organized crime figures and accepted a bribe of $87,000 to take a dive. When it came time to actually take the dive, however, Bang got cold feet. He actually defeated Leo Kuntz via split-decision. Bang would later say organized crime members then threatened his life.

Bang was sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Seoul Central District Court in South Korea.
