3. Super Hulk Grand Prix 2009
Dynamite’s Super Huk Grand Prix tournament from 2009 was one of biggest spectacles in Japanese MMA history. With no weight classes and an eclectic mish-mash of MMA fighters and pro-athletes, this tournament was more spectacle than sport.
Competitors such as baseball’s Jose Canseco, Bob Sapp, and Hong Man Choi made one wonder if they were watching an MMA tournament or WrestleMania.
Canseco would be horribly defeated by the much larger Hong Man Choi in the first round. Ikuhisa Minowa won the tournament after defeating Sokoudjou, Hong Man Choi, and Bob Sapp. Mark Hunt and Gegard Mousasi also competed in the tournament.
