BJ Penn vs. Georges St-Pierre

Ahead of their rematch at UFC 94 in 2009, BJ Penn went to great lengths to try to get into the head of welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

“Serious, Georges, I’m going to go to the death,” Penn warned GSP on the first ever episode of ‘UFC Primetime’. “I’m going to try to kill you, and I’m not joking about this.”

Penn continued the mental warfare in the second episode too.

“GSP says that he’s not a quitter, but I was right there watching him quit. If you tap from strikes, you’re a little bitch.”

St-Pierre remained unmoved by the Hawaiian’s passionate pre-fight declarations however and instead opted to do his talking inside the Octagon.

During the fight St-Pierre repeatedly took Penn down and mauled him with relentless ground and pound for four rounds, leaving the challenger badly battered and bruised as well as completely mentally and physically exhausted.

Penn’s pre-fight boasts then came back to bite him as inbetween rounds when asked him if he wanted to continue he simply hung his head low, resulting in his cornermen waving off the fight.
