Cody Garbrandt vs. TJ Dillashaw

Former teammates can sometimes turn out to be some of the most bitter rivals and such was the case with bantamweight stars Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw.

Garbrandt was livid that Dillashaw had left Team Alpha Male, which created a great deal of tension between the pair that only intensified when he also accused Dillashaw of having deliberately cheap-shotted fellow team-mate Chris Holdsworth in training, leaving him with concussion-related symptoms that would end his career.

There was also a particularly heated exchange while both fighters coached on TUF Season 20 in which Garbrandt lost his temper and grabbed Dillashaw around the throat.

Meanwhile, Garbrandt boasted that he had video footage showing him flooring Dillashaw in training, and he eventually released it online before their fight.

However, despite Garbrandt believing that he had Dillashaw’s number that’s not how things panned out when they clashed at UFC 217.

Despite being hurt in the opening round, Dillashaw was able to floor Garbrandt with a head kick, and when he rose he soon put him down again with a right hook, bringing an end to the fight by TKO to win the bantamweight title.
