Members of Both Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagamedov’s Teams Have Dropped Bombshell Statements About Their Expected Upcoming Fight… Excited Yet?

Now that Conor McGregor’s major legal woes are over, attention has turned to what’s going to happen next with his UFC career. The Irishman pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct, while all other charges were dismissed by the judge. He has to do five days of community service, anger management sessions, and pay damages for the bus he wrecked.

Oh, and he has to keep away from Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa until next year. I’m sure he’s really upset by that. Crucially – because McGregor isn’t a regular person – he hasn’t been stung with a criminal record. This means he’ll have no problem working in the US.

Khabib Nurmagamedov wasted no time in calling him out after he was cleared, while both the Russian and McGregor’s managers have agreed that this is the fight to next. It’s happening folks and it’s likely to be October 6 in Las Vegas.

Makes Sense

Now that we know McGregor isn’t going to be spending the next 7 years in jail, all the signs are pointing to a comeback. He hasn’t fought for the UFC since beating Eddie Alvarez back in 2016. Of course, he lost to Floyd Mayweather last year in what was basically a boxing exhibition. McGregor’s manager Audie Attar told ESPN:

“I think that’s the likely opponent (Khabib) at this point. I think if something changes at that point in time, that will become known. But right now that’s the likely opponent.”

He confirmed that McGregor is in training and looking to make a return this year. He also said that they are in the ‘red zone’ in terms of contract negotiations, so expect a confirmation very soon. This fight is almost definitely going to happen. Unless Tony Ferguson doesn’t something absolutely insane in the meantime.

Team Khabib React

Khabib’s own manager Ali Abdelaziz has released a statement on behalf of his client. Abdelaziz is not exactly known for his gentle diplomacy. He’s intensely loyal to his stable of fighters. He said:

“There’s no more talking. This is the Khabib show now. To be honest, the way I feel about it, Conor would be much safer in jail. If this fight happens the person who would execute the community service is Khabib by giving this ass whooping for the people.”

That’s typical Abdelaziz… Not holding back at all.

Let’s Fight

Indeed, the ‘Eagle’ himself signaled his immediate willingness to throw down. He’s currently in Calgary, Canada and tweeted the image you can see above. It’s all being set up for the biggest fight in the history of the UFC. If this fight goes ahead, and it’s promoted correctly, there’s no reason why it won’t be.

A McGregor fight is a massive event. A McGregor return fight after a lengthy hiatus will be a colossal event. Yes everyone is out there saying he’s irrelevant, he doesn’t defend his titles, and that no one cares anymore. Wait and see. This is going to be something special.
