Due to an injury, Carlos Ulberg will no longer participate in UFC 297’s ESPN+ pay-per-view card. Dominick Reyes confirmed the news on his social media account, sharing his frustration over the matter, but said that rescheduling and other “options” are being considered now.

Reyes and Ulberg were supposed to meet in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 297 cage on January 20 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The fight would have been his redeeming path to join the winning column again after experiencing a four-fight losing skid from Ryan Spann, Jiří Procházka, Jan Błachowicz, and Jon Jones. However, the bout will no longer be possible, with Ulberg needing to exit the lineup due to injury.

Despite this, there is still a glimmer of hope for “The Devastator,” sharing that it could be rescheduled. According to some reports, in case this is the option the UFC chooses, the bout could be included in the UFC Atlantic City event on March 30 at Boardwalk Hall. Reyes also said that the team is “currently looking at options,” albeit there are still no details on who might step in to replace Ulberg’s place on short notice.

With this change, the current UFC 297 lineup is reduced to:

  • Middleweight Title: Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis
  • Vacant Women’s Bantamweight Title: Raquel Pennington vs. Mayra Bueno Silva
  • Neil Magny vs. Mike Malott
  • Arnold Allen vs. Movsar Evloev
  • Dominick Reyes vs. opponent TBA
  • Garrett Armfield vs. Brad Katona
  • Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Chris Curtis
  • Priscila Cachoeira vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius
  • Charles Jourdain vs. Sean Woodson
  • Serhiy Sidey vs. Ramon Taveras
  • Gillian Robertson vs. Polyana Viana
  • Jimmy Flick vs. Malcolm Gordon
  • Yohan Lainesse vs. Sam Patterson
