Cory Sandhagen has been a KILLER after losing against Aljamain Sterling. It was an unfortunate loss that halted him from getting his first title shot on possibly Petr Yan. The loss was obviously tough for Sandhagen but it was a lesson for Sandhagen that made him even more hungry to win.
His loss against Aljamain Sterling could have been a blessing in disguise and it was for him to improve his wrestling and grappling which is needed for a champion. After his loss, he was then scheduled to face former title contender, Marlon Moraes where he knocked him out in the second round.
The next fight Sandhagen took was against former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar who was coming off a win against top contender Pedro Munhoz. Cory Sandhagen landed probably one of the cleanest flying knees in UFC history, to top it off he had the walk off KO that is hard to pull off especially when he just landed a flying knee.
He then called out TJ Dillashaw since the UFC will look to book Petr Yan vs Aljermain Sterling 2. In the meantime, some would argue that Dillashaw did not lose the title inside the Octagon so he would deserve to fight for the title but some would say he popped for PEDs which makes him undeserving. The perfect sense would be get him a top ranked fighter like Sandhagen and the winner will fight for the title next.
The fight was initially scheduled for May 8 but was then cancelled due to Dillashaw suffering an injury. It was then rescheduled for July 24 as the main event for a UFC Fight Night Card. It will be a massive non title fight that many hardcore fans will look forward to watching, hopefully it delivers.
