The recent KO loss of Conor Mcgregor might have closed the door for the biggest fight the UFC has ever seen. Dana White has said in the post fight press conference that if Khabib decides to retire, he will accept it and move on. He also thought that had Conor won the fight against Poirier, it would have created the biggest combat fight of all time against Khabib.

Khabib also posted a tweet about what seems to be a farewell respect to his boss Dana White. It seems that Khabib will not be returning to the Octagon, but who knows maybe something happens that will make the Dagestan fighter return but as of this moment the door is closed for a potential return.
You can like him or hate, but you have to Respect him.
This guy build this sport @ufc
Thank you for everything @danawhite
I have so much respect for you 🤝 https://t.co/G7M0a3j0Mz— khabib nurmagomedov (@TeamKhabib) January 24, 2021
With how dominant Khabib handled the top contenders, he is just many levels above his competition. There is just no challenge that could lit a fire in him. It is a shame that the fans never saw the Khabib vs Tony when it was the highest peak, right now Tony looks slow and out of his prime.
Regarding the lightweight division, Dustin Poirier is not interested in fighting the winner of the co-main event, Michael Chandler. He thinks that Chandler does not deserve to fight for the title just yet as he beat a guy that Poirier already has a win over. Poirier then added in order for Chandler to prove he is legit, he should fight Charles Oliveira.
Poirier already feels he is the best lightweight as he has wins over Conor Mcgregor and Justin Gaethje if Khabib is indeed retired. The only thing that is lacking is to fight for the vacant belt, but who will he fight if not Oliveira or Chandler.
He said he wants to pursue a trilogy with Conor Mcgregor which gives him another massive payday or fight Nate Diaz who were both supposedly scheduled to fight but was canceled. A fight with Diaz also guarantees a big payday due to how big of a name Diaz is for the casual fans.
