Dana White went to Stockton, and it didn’t end well…
A mixed martial arts promoter, the UFC CEO and Nate Diaz walk in to a restaurant in Stockton, sounds like the opener for a corny joke, right? Well it’s not, it actually happened just yesterday.
UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta headed out to Stockton, California to see Nate Diaz, in the hopes of setting up the infamous brawler’s next fight. The question of Conor McGregor also factors massively in to this subject.
After defeating the promotion’s ‘golden boy’ Conor McGregor at UFC 196, Nate Diaz became a superstar overnight. The combination of years fighting at the top level and finally claiming a huge scalp was paying off.
An immediate welterweight rematch with McGregor at UFC 200 was booked in, and another massive payday would be the result for everyone involved. Then things started to fall apart at the seems.
The rematch was squashed just as fast as it had materialized. McGregor pulled out of the first week of the media tour, and so the promotion pulled him from UFC 200 all together. The rumoured new date for the fight was around UFC 202, but nothing was to be confirmed.
But now the sh*t has hit the fan in a massive way, but it’s not McGregor who is the root of the latest problem…
