1. World MMA Awards Sweep
The World MMA Awards are run by “Fighter’s Only” magazine, and is one of the more well-regarded awards given out in the sport.
In 2010 the ceremony began honouring the “Best Referee in MMA”. Herb Dean was the inaugural winner of the award, and then would win it again throughout 2011-2014. 2015 was the first year the award was given to someone other than Dean, when “Big” John McCarthy was given the honour.
It was McCarthy’s first year of eligibility for the award, as he had not been officiating as much in previous years.
