2. He is Dana White’s Favourite Referee
Dana White does not hesitate to be critical of referees. White’s rants against infamous referee Steve Mazzagotti were the thing of legends and may have driven him out from the sport’s limelight (though I doubt anyone will admit that).
And while Dana has been critical about some calls made by Herb Dean, in general White seems to prefer when big fights are refereed by him. White has also made many public statements that are complimentary towards Dean.
“I don’t know this guy, we don’t hang out, I’ve never said hi to him, never said two words to him…Herb Dean is the best referee in the business,” White stated to media following UFC 131.
“He’s the best referee ever in the history of the sport.”
