3. Cormier Appealed to Have Him Removed from UFC 197

Before Daniel Cormier had to pull out of his UFC 197 fight with Jon Jones, he appealed to have Herb Dean removed as referee for the bout.

Dean had been the referee for the 1st fight between the two at UFC 182, and Cormier complained that he allowed Jones to stall in the latter rounds of the fight, costing Cormier a chance to push the pace.

Cormier filed an official complaint to the commission, but ultimately it wouldn’t matter as Cormier would pull out with injury. In his place stepped Ovince Saint Preux, whom Jones beat via decision in an un-inspiring 5 round fight.
