4. They Might Have a Point
One thing which may allow the new association to hurt Dana and the UFC, is that they have a point regarding UFC’s compensation to fighters.
In most sports there is a 50/50 split between management and players. According to the MMAAA, the UFC only pays their fighters 8%. If those statistics hold up to scrutiny, it is hard to argue that GSP and company have a point. According to the MMAAA, Conor McGregor isn’t even getting his fair share.
If the new fighters organization is able to damage the UFC’s reputation, it might open the door to more fighters choosing to fight for other organizations. While UFC has always been thought of as the mecca for aspiring fighters, that could change if the MMAAA gets in the ears of those same prospects. It also opens the door for Bellator to win over fans by being more generous and transparent with their fighter compensation.
